Bedazzled AU! Patrick hates high school and sells his soul to the devil (Pete) for seven wishes.
Excellent. Great spin on the original movie (so much better than the movie) and just perfect characterisations. Patrick is a very believable teenager and Pete's evil ways of fucking up his wishes are pure gold. Really funny.

BFFs that fall in love and fight it for a very long time.
If someone wants you to define Spyro as a pairing, you should point them at this fic. I think you need to ship Ryan/Spencer to really enjoy it, but if you do, it's pretty great. Slow and achey with lots of mind-reading and problems of being too close and knowing each other too well. Very much enjoyed it.

Jon likes his men manly and his women girly. Spencer grows a beard and now fits the first category.
I gave up on this one at the start of the second part, when falling-for-Spencer!Jon randomly fucked the girl sitting next to him on the plane on the way back to Chicago. I like the basic idea (even if the writer starts out by mis-defining the Kinsey scale) and some things are really funny, but the voices are off. All of them. And the porn somehow manages to feel like the writer is trying to check of an entire slash kink-bingo card in less than a minute while, at the same time, making it feel weirdly like het. Also, I have a major problem with people writing importance-of-safe-sex discussions followed by unprotected BJs where both parties swallow. If you're not fussy about these things, you'll probably enjoy it though. There's lots and lots of porn.

It feels like this fic has got the concept of show and tell wrong, like it's telling everything that needs to be shown and vice versa. It's essentially grief therapy, which is interesting as a concept (and handled well) but not that exciting to read about. The progression is far too slow. I started skimming after about half an hour. Also, I think this would have worked much better as a Jon/Spencer, or even Ryan/Spencer fic. Brendon is forced into the role of being all patiently and quietly waiting for Spencer to get from apathetic to functioning again (very much like Jon in "Sometimes I Long to Be Landlocked", actually, but unlike that fic, there isn't much humour or sweetness to offset the angst in this one). I miss what I see as the heart of Brendon/Spencer, where Brendon makes Spencer's playful side come out and they're funny and adorable together.

Monsters Inc AU. Pete is a little green monster with a mohawk! Patrick is a big furry monster! Brendon-the-human-babysitter gets lost in monsterworld!
Completely hilarious. Dips a little towards the very end, but Pete and Patrick being monsters is just too adorable for me not to love this. Brendon being a transdimensional cupid is quite possibly my favourite thing ever.
