RL update
I'm back home! Sweden is welcoming as usual with cold weather and rain. Today, my husband went to work and got stranded on an island because the waves were too high for the boat to come get him. Stupid Swedish coast. Meh.
Trip was fabulous. Went to Atlanta to see
behindthec and then to Chicago to see
intricate_life. So much fun was had. God, how I wish that I could teleport so that I could see these people all the time. Emma will thankfully be back in Sweden in a week, but Colin. :(((((((( I miss you! (Also, in case you were wondering if the pictures Colin keeps posting were exaggerating how cute the boyfriend is, I can now assure that they're not--Jack really is that hot. Not to mention adorable. I want to keep him in my pocket. :D)
In other news I have cotton candy-coloured nails and the new apartment is still not finished. I wish I could have stayed away on vacation. Gah.
My brain is warped, exhibit 278579238579827
So, I've just realised that hanging about a slash fandom--especially bandom--gets you very spoiled. Personally, it messes with my ability to correctly interpret people saying things like "that show is so steamy" or "you never guess what X said in this interview", because my mind has been warped by porn and now fully expects these things to mean "at least 50% of the screen time consists entirely of hot people having very graphic sex" and "announced his engagement to his secret, insanely hot boyfriend" respectively. Case in point: I just zoomed through True Blood, having been told by
intricate_life that it was a really sexy show with much slashy goodness and... meh. I mean, I liked it (and nothing makes me prouder to be a Swede than Alexander Skarsgård walking around being a hot-as-fuck badass vampire, let me tell you). Liked it a lot, even. Though why is Bill there? And why does Sookie love him? When Eric (Swedish guys named Eric are clearly superior to all other men) is right there and a million times hotter? I swear, it's the Buffy frustration all over again (Angel over Spike? Seriously?
moku_youbi, back me up on this, yes?) So, coming back from the rambling to say that yes, it's a cool show, and it does have a lot of sex. Just not enough to make my brain happy. And way too little gay sex. I guess what I was hoping for was a less trashy version of The Lair (Gay vampires running a BDSM sex club and plotting to kill each other. Sometimes during sex.) and True Blood is not that. And where is all the girl/girl action? I feel decidedly disappointed by the lack of pretty naked women together. *pouts*
Now, if someone were to make a fusion of Queer As Folk and The L-word, that would be a sexy show. And if there could still be vampires, I'd be very much obliged. Especially if Alexander Skarsgård could still play one of them and get to have lots and lots of hot boyfriends. :D
