redorchidsFinally getting some work done on the CSI AU. Finished the Ryan/Spencer backstory from Spencer's POV and have managed to get to the point where Jon joins the team. I'm enjoying writing this story again, which is a huge relief. It will definitely take another few months before it's all done though. So many things to keep track of. But yeah, fun. Lots of fun. And here's a short teaser.
The room goes completely dark. Jon keeps as still as he can so he won't accidentally fall on something and contaminate the scene. He can feel Spencer move next to him, hear him feel his way through his kit and withdrawing some kind of equipment.
A blue light fills the room, revealing splatters of white all over the place. Jon starts to swab.
“What do you think?” he asks, leaning over Spencer to reach a stain on the table cloth. “Blood?”
“Victim didn't look like he'd lost any blood,” Spencer says, voice coming from right next to Jon's ear. “Unless they've had other casualties here and managed to clean up the scene afterwards, I think it's pretty obvious.”
“Oh yeah?”
“It's completely dark, Jon,” Spencer replies, voice dropping a few notes. “You sit on soft pillows on the floor to eat. The tables are small, so your date is close. Everything served is to be eaten with your hands, and you're probably feeding each other. So there's touching and tasting with the knowledge that there are people all around you, but they can't see a thing. You're saying you wouldn't?”
Jon closes his eyes around the images suddenly dancing in his head, lets out a careful breath. “I'm pretty sure that's a Health Code violation.”
