Victim of the editing process

redorchidsHello, hello. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates that and happy Friday to everyone else. Current word count on the Spyro prequel is now 34,000 words, and I'm very much failing at keeping them away from each other. :)
(This scene has been cut from the current version. I had this idea where they went on vacation together "just as friends". Except the story refused to cooperate and insisted that I should let Ryan and Spencer be happy and in love forever, so that had to go. I have a happy ending in sight, though! Or at least *I* think it's happy. We'll see how it pans out.)
“Ryan,” Spencer whispers, and, God, he's so close all of a sudden. Ryan can feel warm breath on his face and Spencer's left hand in his hair, tilting his face up a little.
“We never—” Spencer says, leaning his forehead against Ryan's, rubbing them slowly against each other. “We just stopped, without saying goodbye. Maybe that's part of what fucked it up.”
Ryan's pretty sure his brain isn't working anymore, but Spencer is asking him for something, so Ryan nods, leaning into the touch when Spencer tilts his head a little to the side. His fingers touch Spencer's cheek, mapping out small differences and relearning the feel of Spencer's face beneath them. Spencer's hands are on his throat now, sliding down to his collarbones before going back up to cup his jaw. They breathe into each other's mouths for what feels like forever before their lips finally touch. The kiss is feather-light at first, held back and so, so careful. Then Ryan feels Spencer's teeth graze the skin of his bottom lip.
The reaction is automatic. His hands slide into Spencer's hair, and he deepens the kiss, falling into it with a broken moan while Spencer runs his hands to the back of his neck, holding him in place. Every time one of them draws back to breathe, the other one is there, taking the kiss back before it breaks entirely. It can't end, because Ryan has no idea what happens when it does. So he wraps his hands more firmly in Spencer's hair and just keeps kissing him.
Spencer pushes him back, coming down on top of him when Ryan's back hits the cushions of the divan. He's heavier than Ryan remembered. Older and more solid; wider shoulders, a little softer around the middle. At the same time, it's exactly the same.
“We really shouldn’t do this.”
Spencer puts one hand in Ryan’s hair, holding him still while kissing him deeper, and the other on his thigh, pushing it to the side to give himself more room. “I don’t care.”
He grinds down. Ryan moans.
“We’ve been over for more than a year,” Spencer says, leaning back in before Ryan has a chance to reply. “We’re both fine. It’s just sex.”
Ryan wants to argue. Spencer kisses him again, hands sliding smoothly down Ryan’s hips and taking his pants with them.
“Just sex,” he repeats, one hand wrapping itself around Ryan’s dick. “Come on. Don’t be so fucking careful all the time.”
Ryan drops his head back and grits his teeth to keep himself from crying out. Spencer laughs a little above him and tightens his grip, moving torturously slowly in a way that he knows that Ryan is completely powerless to resist. His other hand moves down the inside of his thigh, finding all the right places and shutting off the last of Ryan’s active brain cells.
Ryan arches into the touch, feels his hands start to peel away Spencer’s clothes with rough, desperate movements, kicking off his own pants to get his legs free to wrap themselves around the back of Spencer’s
Just sex.
