Red Orchid

This Friday, me and Mr Me drove up to Stockholm to see MCR. First time for both of us seeing them live, so we were pretty excited. (Mr Me is a huge fan of Black Parade. It's his go-to album for any mood except happy-happy--at those moments he puts on Glee. :D)

Okay, so, Sarah Smiles. Awesome, yes? I love the cabaret feeling on it, and unlike the lyrics someone made up and "leaked" a month or so ago, I really like Brendon's

AND, after listening to it some gazillion times, I FINALLY realised what it's reminding me of. Namely this, which is an awesome, awesome song and an even more awesome SYTYCD number.

I really like the twins. And the ballet dancer sequence. Those were pretty awesome. Dialogue is... um... :DDD

ALSO, WHY IS THERE NO HANDHOLDING AT THE END? IT IS THE PERFECT MOMENT FOR SPENCER TO TAKE BRENDON'S HAND. OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I AM NOT FUSSY.

*happy sigh* I love these little extra side projects. Do more of them always, boys, yes?

Top five tropes and why. (feel free to add recs to fics containing any of these in the comments)

This is pretty hard, because there are so many awesome tropes out there. The ones I keep going back to and reading a gazillion times and making heart-eyes over the most, however, are:

1) Fake boyfriends/Undercover at a gay bar
Because it is the awesomest of all awesome tropes! Pretending to be a couple! Having to act like one to be convincing! Kissing that's surprisingly and shockingly awesome! What's not to like?
2) Woke up married/Arranged marriage
I loooove this trope. Nothing like a good arranged/accidental marriage to push two people together. Love it like cookies and rainbows.
3) Alternate universe
Basically, anything that has a person wake up and go "hey, um, where is my real life?" is my favourite fic EVER.
4) Time travel
Paradoxes! Meeting yourself! Lost opportunities! Fixing things! Also, see above.
5) Secret identities
Because Superman has owned my heart since before I was really aware that I had one and Dean Cain was my favourite for all of middle school.

London was really, really awesome. If I didn't have to go to work, like, half an hour ago, I'd totally stay here and flail about it for a million words. Which I totally will do when I get home \o/

For now, let's just say that:

a) It was awesome
b) Brendon was so incredibly nice, omfg
c) Spencer is taller than I thought and his hair is really poofy (AND AWESOME).
d) Zack was way smaller than I thought he'd be.
e) The venue was awesome
f) Everyone in the line was awesome too. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO MEET YOU GUYS, OMG
g) Best concert ever. I wish I could go to it every day.

Result: 27 read. (which should really count as more since the Bible has 44 books and I've read at least 15 by Shakespeare. Oh well...)

In conclusion: I need to get my Dickens on. And read Catcher in the Rye, because it seems like I'm the only one on the planet who hasn't. :)

Gah! Got linked an adorable, funny merlin fic full of everything good, including lots of meta and after 40 mins spent grinning like a loon and clapping my hands together I discovered it was a WIP. *wails from impatient agony* Why don't I ever learn to check whether a kink meme story is completed before getting hooked? Whyyyyyyy?
